Dragonfly Blog Tour: Giveaway & Character Interview with Anna Sanders

Hello, Therians!
I'm super excited, because today Anna Sanders joins us for a chat!

Anna's life turned upside down when her BFF, Gabi, left and in walked Lucy and Jack Kyser.
Not to mention the super sweet and sexy Julian LaSalle, and the family secret she uncovered!

If you missed my review, check it out HERE.

SYNOPSIS

Three bad things I learned this year:
-People you trust lie, even parents.

-That hot guy, the one who’s totally into you, he might not be the one.
-Things are not always how they appear.

Three good things I learned this year:

-Best friends are always there for you, even when they’re far away.
-That other hot guy, the one who remembers your birthday, he just might be the one.
-Oh, and things are not always how they appear.

Anna Sanders expected an anonymous (and uneventful) senior year until she crossed paths with rich-and-sexy Jack Kyser and his twin sister Lucy.
Pulling Anna into their extravagant lifestyle on the Gulf Coast, Lucy pushed Anna outside her comfort zone, and Jack showed her feelings she’d never experienced... Until he mysteriously withdrew.
Anna turned to her internship at the city paper and to her old attraction for Julian, a handsome local artist and rising star, for distraction. But both led to her discovery of a decades-old secret closely guarded by the twins’ distant, single father.

A secret that could permanently change all their lives.

EXCERPT

Falling in Love Changes Everything…
“C’mon,” Julian said, helping me stand. “Let’s blow off this party and catch a movie or go to Scoops. This isn’t our scene.”

I shook my head. “I just really want to go home.” The tears were trying to start again. “Can I just go home now?”

“Sure,” he said, holding my cheek. I took a limping step, and he stopped. “Does it hurt to walk?”

My leg was throbbing. I nodded, looking down, and before I realized what was happening, he was lifting me in his arms.

“Julian, wait,” I held his shoulders. “I’m too heavy!”

“It’s okay,” he said, walking on. I sighed and leaned my head against his shoulder. I didn’t feel like fighting. Gentle pressure against my temple, and he’d kissed me. “You’ll get over this,” I heard him say under his breath.

 INTERVIEW WITH ANNA SANDERS

Hi, Anna. Thank you for taking the time to join us today.

Hi, Roxy! You have a really cool name, by the way.

Thank you, that's so sweet of you to say :)

1.      How’s the internship going?

The internship’s going great, thanks. I’m starting back in the spring, and my editor Nancy is really happy with my work. I should get a super recommendation from her for college.
That's wonderful! You deserve it :)

2.      Have you dug up any other family secrets?

NO. And wow. Talk about unexpected blow-ups! From now on, when I’m feeling sad, I’m taking my own advice and walking a dog. It’s way less trouble and stress—and information! Now I know this thing, and I can never tell my… “friend.” But if my “friend” finds out I know, then what? Omg, this is such a mess.

3.      Do you think your life would have changed as much as it has, had Gabi not left?

Doubtful. I mean, Gabi and I had a routine, and I was happy to stay in it until graduation. Then I would go to college and get a job in my field. It sounds bad, but I wasn’t interested in making local connections. I would only be here one more year. Now it feels like I’m all tangled up in everything here.

4.      In the last few weeks how have you grown as a person, and what have you learned about yourself?

Well, I definitely have more confidence, as far as my work goes. I think I’ll be less fearful interviewing powerful people, you know? Asking them hard questions. That’s a good thing for a journalist. But as far as my love life, well, I suppose I learned that I hadn’t given it enough thought. At the same time, I never had to. And I certainly never expected to be in that kind of situation—with that kind of choice. It was all kind of surreal. In a way, it still is.

5.      Jack seemed to sweep you off your feet, time and again. What about him captivated you so much, even after the incident at his and Lucy’s birthday party?

It’s hard to explain, but I know there’s more to him than the distance he projects. He’s so caring and protective of the people he loves. I know that’s why he pushed me away—because he was trying to protect me. If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t have come to find me after. Or apologized. I guess I just really wanted to be one of those people—that he loved. But forget all that. Have you seen the guy? He’s totally hot. And when he kisses me, the way I feel… it’s all really stupid and unhealthy. And I’m not doing that any more.

Hmm, I suppose I can understand that. I still don't trust him enough though, so I'll be keeping a close eye on him. You're too sweet to have your heart broken! Right now, I'm Team Julian all the way :)

6.      Do you still have feelings for Jack?

Sometimes. It’s like when I’m not looking, something will happen, and I’ll remember… But I don’t want to. And I know the more time passes, if I stay focused on moving on, one day, I’ll look up and I will have. Moved on, I mean. It just takes time to get over some people, I think.

7.      How are things with you and Julian now?

*smiles* Really good. I mean, we’re moving slowly because I don’t want to do some stupid rebound thing. But Julian’s just… *sigh* Perfect? I know, it’s asking for trouble to set someone up as being perfect. But he’s really great.

**double sigh** I have to agree with you! Did I mention that I'm Team Julian **wink wink**

8.      Would you change anything about the way things turned out?

For a long time, I wished Gabi had never left, and my life would’ve continued peacefully like it was through graduation. But if she hadn’t left, maybe I wouldn’t have gotten these really great opportunities? And maybe I wouldn’t have grown as a person. So maybe it all turned out for the best.

9.      If Ms LaSalle decides to keep, what I like to call “The Julian Situation”, under wraps will you tell Julian the truth?

No. Never.

10.  And if she does tell him, how do you think he will react if he finds out you knew the truth and kept it from him?

Oh, god! *face in hands* I don’t know. That’s what I’m struggling with now. They’ve got to tell him. Not just because it would change his life, but because… well, he needs to know. He’s really angry at his dad for never wanting to know him or be a part of his life, and I think it would help if he knew the truth.

11.  In light of your relationship with Jack and the complexity of “The Julian Situation”, do you think it will change anything between you two if he finds out the truth?

Between Julian and me? God, I hope not. I mean, he was pretty cool about me and Jack. He really understood how I was feeling. But that other thing… ugh. Please see #10.

12.  Are there any interesting tidbits you can share with us about the journals Mr Kyser gave to you?

Holy crap. You just wait. I promised not to tell anyone what was in them. But you’ll get the chance to read over my shoulder in Undertow. I will say the whole story is ultimately tragic. Well, of course it is, but… It’s like you can see it coming, and you want to reach in and help them make the right decisions. Unfortunately, life isn’t like that, is it? Sometimes, one wrong choice can change everything. I guess I should know that.
OMG!! I cannot wait! July 18th (my birthday, btw) can't come sooner!

Thanks for having me here, Roxy, and wanting to talk to me! Here’s hoping things get less complicated for me. I guess we’ll have to wait and see… :)
Good luck with that! I'll be here for you though, if you ever need to vent, or if you need a reminder of just how great Julian is!!
