Spotlight: Sarah M. Ross: Character Interview with Tessa from Echo of an Earth Angel

Hello, Therians!

Today is all about Sarah M. Ross!!!

Have you read her books??
If the answer is no, then check out all her titles below. I've included buy links.

Okay, so I was lying when I said today was all about Sarah, but I'm sure she won't mind if Tessa Copeland from her Earth Angel Trilogy, steals the limelight for a little while :)

Tessa is here to give us more insight into what went down in Echo of an Earth Angel, when she was told her life would never be the same again!! Enjoy!

18 year old Tessa Copeland barely survived the worst year of her life—in fact, it was a miracle. After making it through the tragedy that killed both of her parents, she’s left to pick up the pieces of her life. Combating the holes in her memory and the concern of her friends was hard enough, but a new talent threatens to destroy everything she’s trying to reclaim.
David Allegri didn’t mean to ruin Tessa’s life. She was the brightest soul he’d seen in centuries and he couldn’t let her die, so the fallen angel used his abilities to heal her—only he took it too far and changed Tessa forever. Now, he has to figure out a way to explain what’s happening to Tessa and somehow protect both of them from the consequences.
His choice made them targets for the Hunters, who will use any means necessary to capture their prey. Only a desperate plan can help them escape, and sacrifices will be made. Time is ticking. Will they make it, or will they be lost to the echoes of fate?

CHARACTER INTERVIEW
TESSA COPELAND

Hi Tessa,
Thanks for joining me on my blog today :)

1.       Why don’t we start off with you telling us a little more about yourself?

Oh, there’s really not that much to tell. You know, typical teenage suburban girl who almost died, spent a year in a coma, and woke up a supernatural being. You know, same ol’ same ol’…

But seriously, I’m still trying to wrap me head around who I am these days. If you would have asked me that question a year ago, it would have been simple. Sophomore girl, dating boys, playing tennis, and having fun hanging out with her friends.

Today, the question isn’t quite as simple. I’m an orphan, I’m the town freak, and I’m just trying to make sense of it all.

2.       What was the first thing that came to mind when David revealed the truth to you?

“Am I on a hidden camera TV show?”  Because seriously, David’s story was so crazy, there was no way what he was telling me could actually be true. Who would have believed him?!

Even when he presented evidence, I didn’t want to believe it, because believing it meant actually admitting I was forever changed, and I wasn’t ready to handle that.

3.       Was there ever a moment when you wondered why, if David could heal you, hadn’t he done the same for your parents?

I didn’t wonder that, because I knew from reading the medical examiner’s reports that my parents were killed instantly. Unfortunately, I knew that there was no way to save them—as much as I would have wanted David to try.

4.       Did it surprise you when you fell in love with him so quickly?

I didn’t really think I did love him so quickly. I was very sceptical and hesitant with him for a while, but as soon as I let me head stop thinking too much, my heart took over and there was no stopping it from falling. David is amazing—who wouldn’t fall for him?

5.       Do you think you could still love him, even if you found out that what he had done wasn’t with good intentions?

I don’t know. That would be hard. Trust is so important when building a relationship, if that were severed, the entire foundation would be shaky. But David is so passionate about helping people, and such an amazingly loyal friend above all else, I don’t think it’s in his nature to purposefully deceive or lie to hurt someone. At least, I’m really hoping that’s the case…

6.       Why were you so trusting of Ezekiel? Did you ever stop to question his motives?

Honestly, I trusted Ezekiel because David trusted Ezekiel. It never even occurred to me that an Arch-Angel could –or would—be someone I should be wary of.  Guess I learned my lesson the hard way!

7.       If you knew then, what you know now, would you have risked it all for David, regardless?

Yes, I think I would because David would—and did—risk it all for me.

8.       Do you still have hope that you’ll see David again?

I know, deep down with every ounce of my soul, that I will see him again. For me, it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. And if I have my way, it’ll be as soon as possible. I will do everything in my power to see that David is freed, the real wrong-doers are locked up, and the balance of good and evil is restored.

WOW! Things really have changed for you!! I do hope that you and David find your way back to each other and that those responsible for this whole mess get what they're deserving.

REVIEW

This book was quite different from the normal YA PNR books I've read.

Many of the angel based stories out there focus on the battle between heaven and hell, angels and demons, good versus evil, the fight to keep the apocalypse at bay, and although this story still had some of these elements, it was more about the betrayal and deception going on within the ranks of heaven itself. With the different type of angel factions, from Hunters to Incarnators, it was interesting and I wanted to know more.

Another thing that stood out was that the female MC, although still very much human, was in fact not and this was due to her savior being a little overzealous in the healing department. And I liked that she in the end was the one who had to do the saving, rather than the other way round, even if things didn't pan out exactly as planned.

Tessa, although not the strongest character I've met, showed great signs of becoming a powerful female MC. She was brave and didn't give up easily. I only wish I had connected with her more. I didn't really believe the love that blossomed between her and David. It all seemed to happen too fast and it fell flat. Perhaps if I had felt it more, if it had latched onto my emotions, I would have enjoyed this story more.

This book had its interesting plot twists but it lacked the depth that usually wows me. It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and I'd love to see where Ross takes the story, because it has so much potential.

 It gets...

Waking up dead was just the beginning of her problems. Lucy’s death is about to become the greatest adventure of her life.

Six months ago, Lucy Donovan thought that being killed by a drunk driver was the worst thing that could happen to her.
She was wrong.
Now, the person she loves most has been ripped away from her, soul held hostage, and Lucy has vowed to stop at nothing to get it back.
Part of a new team with enhanced powers, Lucy and her friends begin a quest to avenge the souls that have been stolen. Enemies of the Patronus have united, however, and a spy from within the Patronus realm is feeding the enemy their every move.

Before there was Awaken, before there was “Lucy and Max”, there was just Max. And he had some issues.
A lot of issues.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sarah Ross started her obsession with reading at an early age, getting in trouble for sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class in elementary school. She would read any fiction book she could get her hands on. Sarah knew it was an addiction when instead of grounding her from TV or music, her mom would take away her books as punishment (The Horror!). Her love of all things paranormal was inspired by her good friend Laurie, who convinced Sarah that books with vampires, witches, and all things shifter were amazing. After a little reluctance, she gave it a shot with the Sookie Stackhouse books, realized she was right, and the rest was history.

Sarah grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English, and taught 8th graders to love reading as much as she does for several years. She will always be a proud member of the Steelers Nation, but couldn’t take the cold and moved her frozen tush to Florida where she now lives with her family and two cats. You will find Sarah now with her trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand!
