Review + #Giveaway: Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane

Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane

Publication date: March 2014
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken.  She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans.  But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up.  While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them.

With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own — a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors
she’s endured.  But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

REVIEW

This book was an emotional rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. I found myself tearing up one more than one occasion and I was a complete mess when Peyton poured her heart out to Reed and revealed every detail of the horrific event from her past.

Reed, although a man whore, was a really sweet guy. He was obviously hiding his true self behind the rumors and reputation that darkened his family name, and I was so pleased to see Peyton break down his walls brick for brick. He in turn did the same with her, until they were both free to completely love each other the way they deserved. Of course, with them both being so broken, the ride to happiness was full of bumps and unexpected turns, but they worked through it and found each other again.

Peyton was the type of girl you can't help loving. Sweet and smart. I hated that she had been dealt such a rough life, and as I mentioned before, when she told Reed everything about what had happened to her in the past by heart shattered. I was just so happy she was able to find love and happiness when least expected, and she was also able to find courage and to take back what had been stolen from her years before - emotionally, anyway.

This book had a very serious tone, with the devastation that ripped through each of their lives, past and present, however, with a bunch of amazing characters, who added a lightness to this story, it was also fun and easy to read. I loved Dr. Lorraine. She was the confidant every girl needs. Her unorthodox way of healing her patients was quite refreshing and made for a few laughs. As did Quinn and Bret. I particularly loved the whole underwear personality assessment!

  1. I love these kinds of character driven reads and both Reed and Peyton sounds like characters I would def connect with. Great review, Roxie!
