When Lucy decided to run nowhere to go. They were coming for her. She needed protection, but she had no one to help her. Until she came across the warehouse of the Deathstalkers MC, she begged them for protection. Now she owes them her life and her loyalty. Her family will never end their search for her, she is a piece of property that needs to be recovered at any cost necessary. Sometimes there are worse things than needing to hide for the rest of your life, like being found.

Sometimes the obvious evils aren’t the ones you need to fear.

This book dived right into the action from page one, with Lucy’s story coming to life in the most atrocious way. It was despicable the way she was treated and by her family no less. When she found salvation in the most unexpected form, I was hopeful that she’d finally find peace and some freedom from the controlling ways of her past, but it soon came to light that no matter how long and how far she ran, her past would haunt her forever. That is just how deep her emotional scars ran.

Once Lucy found refuge with the MC I felt that the story slowed down a bit. It gave me time to really get to know the characters, but unfortunately I didn’t quite feel the spark between her and Jordan. I’m not sure if it was the time lapse and the fact that there was more focus on how she started to fit in more with the MC over the years, but even when they were finally able to admit their feelings, I felt that that sexual tension was lacking.

This, however, did not dull this thoroughly entertaining read in the least. When Lucy’s past came back with a vengeance, my heart was in my throat. I loved that Noelle didn’t sugarcoat the violent manner in which things played out, and my heart was torn into pieces by the end. I’m just happy that Lucy had an amazing group of people who were there for her when she really needed them. They refused to give up on her, and once she found her way through the darkness, she was finally able to embrace her happiness.
