REVIEW

This was a peculiar read. I wasn’t completely intrigued by the beginning of the story, even though it was pivotal to the plot. The short chapters seemed a bit choppy and the sudden change between characters gave me whiplash.

I would have preferred to be eased into the story, but as this was a novella I understand why Weeks threw me right into the action. It just felt like certain parts of the plotline were left incomplete.

I did enjoy the overall message of this story. The fact that one act or decision could snowball in such a manner was shocking although not at all surprising given human emotions and the lack of morals that seems to have rocked our world in recent years. This story is set in the not too distant future, and I could actually see people behaving this way.

If you enjoy gory horror/slasher stories, then this one will fill the gap. It was a quick read with disturbing scenes, and although it didn’t quite live up to my expectations, I did enjoy it for the most part.
