SYNOPSIS
This isn't a deep book about
first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to
recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is
about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's
the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the
same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and
realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.

Ah, skinny dipping. The liberating act of getting
naked and taking the big splash.
But as this book clearly warns, skinny dipping does
have its hazards. In Juliet’s case — contracting a douche bag, controlling boyfriend.
Symptoms: Bad sex.
I really liked how Amy, even though not a physical
character in this story, was still included through email conversations. She
was after all the one who set everything in motion, whether good or bad.
Juliet is a sweet, likable character. Although she
is portrayed as somewhat naïve and clueless, I really didn’t see her this way. At
first, maybe yes, but only because I just couldn’t believe she’d fallen so
easily for Dylan, not matter how much she confessed to stalking him. I would have expected her to know better.
Once she got to college things changed. She held her
own and even when it seemed she’d never see through Dylan, she came out stronger
and stuck to her guns. She had this underlying fierceness that showed through
from time to time. She wasn’t afraid to take on the big boys, as was clearly
shown during the laser tag game, and even with everything she was going
through, she still managed to come out on top...in more ways than one!
I have to ask…what the hell is wrong with the
Bradley boys? They were both too desperate and annoying it was a real turn off.
Although Kyle wasn’t as bad as Dylan, I was so glad that Juliet didn’t go
there.
Reed, oh sweet Reed! He’s charming, funny and quite irresistible.
I believe that even without his family drama, he would have been the sweet,
protective guy that he was. Although I didn’t immediately feel the spark
between Reed and Juliet…err…Annie, or should that be Oakley? They did share
some fun moments and I enjoyed the lighthearted banter between them. Even when
certain secrets were revealed, I was still on Reed’s side. I just couldn’t
believe that his intentions were cruel or meant to harm Juliet in any way.
All in all this was a fun, quick read, and I really liked
how it came full circle in the end.
