“There is a price to be paid if one chooses to carry the magic of dragons,” said Sathees with a serious tone. “I do not owe you an explanation, young one. You must trust me.”
There was anger in Xylia’s eyes.
A low rumble came from behind Sathees. He bowed his head, shutting his eyes.
I watched in disbelief as a short gray-stone well emerged from the ground behind him. Its rocks were covered in mold, foliage, and branches.
“How did that just appear?” I shot Sathees a confused stare. “What is that well?”
Sathees opened his eyes. “Our way to the dragons, of course.” He turned his back to us. Without any trace of fear, he climbed atop the well, standing on its edge. “This is how we will get to the tamers.” He took one step toward the nothingness that stood between him and the mouth of the well. I tried to grab ahold of him as his body fell inside but I missed his hand.
“Is he mad?” Xylia ran to the well. “Does he expect us to follow him? We could die.”
The darkness of the well was intimating.
“What other choice do we have?” Nathan lowered his eyes, gazing at the blackness of the well. “We cannot just linger here in this storm.”
As the words drifted from his mouth, the rumbling noise resounded once again. I looked behind me to see the hill rising from the dirt.
Xylia took a deep breath, climbing on top of the well.
“Since we have no other option.” She looked over her shoulder, setting her gaze on me. “I will see you on the other side, boys.” She lowered her head and jumped.

The Whispers of the Fallen - Chapter VI

“They performed the Soul Exchange. Demetre was offered to the Darkness when he was an infant. This offer gives liberty for any chosen Fallen Star to take over his body upon his blood maturation. Therefore, Demetre’s fate was chosen for him.” Devin sighed. “This is a dangerous thing, given that a Fallen Star is now hosted in a human body. Their tissue, skin and blood have intertwined. They are one.”
I placed both of my hands on my face, closed my eyes and once again cried bitterly. Demetre, the person I had known throughout my entire life, the person that knew me best, died without having a choice. A part of me wanted to refuse to believe that this was true, but deep inside I knew the truth had to be embraced now.

REVIEW

I’ve been wanting to read this book for quite a while now and it really lived up to all my expectations. Very much an epic fantasy, it was filled with adventure and mayhem.

I have read many books about nephilim, angels, demons, and good versus evil, but I really loved the way in which Netto told this story. The characters were exciting, there were interesting plot twists and it was never predictable.  I was instantly sucked into the worlds of Elysium and Justicia, and the strange and sinister creatures that inhabited the pages of this book.

This was an extremely thrilling read. It was action-packed and a little frightening at times. Readers of epic fantasies with who love a well thought out and developed plot will enjoy this read to the max.

DREAM CAST AND CHARACTER BIOS

If ‘The Whispers of the Fallen’ was made into a movie and you could cast anyone you wanted, who would you choose?

Isaac Khan

I would cast Jeremy Sumpter as Isaac. I much enjoyed his performance on Peter Pan (2003).

Born and raised in the village of Agalmath, Isaac is the main protagonist in the series. His parents, Diane and Dustin Khan were members of the Council chosen to protect the Diary. They fled the Council once they discovered Athalas had sold his soul to Lucifer. Isaac is now the bearer of the Diary of Lucifer.

Demetre Aliward

I think Dylan Minnette is perfect for the role of Demetre.

Isaac’s best and most loyal friend. Demetre also lost his parents on the day Isaac discovered the Diary. During their journey throughout Elysium, Demetre discovers a dark truth about himself and his own family.

Devin

I would also choose Chris Hemsworth to play Devin. He is a very talented actor.

He fled the hiding place of the Nephilins in Byllith, seeking refuge within the Council. Devin fights against the evil that runs through his veins since birth. He possesses the ability to communicate and command certain animal species.

Adawnas

I would also pick Maggie Grace for the role of Adawnas. I think she has a very natural beauty and is incredibly talented.

She also sought refuge with the Council. Adawnas first encountered Isaac and Demetre on the day Devin led them to meet Athalas, the head of the Council. After discovering the Council’s dark secrets, Adawnas joined Isaac and the others on their journey.

Nephele

After watching Red Riding Hood by Catherine Hardwick, I was absolutely enthralled by Amanda Seyfried’s performance. Since then, I always see her as Nephele.

The first human to be turned into a Nephilin. Nephele was seduced by Mordred, a Fallen Star, and bore a Nephilin child named Duane. She is one of Lucifer’s most loyal servants. She has the ability to control and attack an enemy by striking pain throughout the body.

SOUNDTRACK

Music played a very important role during the writing process for The Whispers of the Fallen. Being a musician myself, music has always helped me dig deeper into certain moments while writing, enabling me to better understand each character and moment. I even wrote a song called A Melody for the Fallen. You can download the song at no cost by going to http://www.thewhispersofthefallen.com/#!music/c203t

On my website (http://www.thewhispersofthefallen), I created two playlists with a couple of songs that helped me overcome writer’s block. One playlist consists of songs that capture the heart and soul of characters and key moments on Whispers, while the other playlist contains some of the songs that I actually listened to during the writing process.

Playlist 1 (Writing Soundtrack)
God Particle (Angels and Demons OST)  - Hans Zimmer
Captured and Tortured (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 OST) - Alexandre Desplat
Fireplace Escape (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 OST) - Alexandre Desplat
Return of the Lion (The Chronicles of Narnia) - Harry Gregson-Williams
Elysium (Gladiator) - Hans Zimmer
The Last March of the Ents (The Two Towers) - Howard Shore
Braveheart Theme - John Williams
In Noctem (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) - Nicholas Hooper

Playlist 2 (Book Soundtrack)

Breath of Life - Florence and the Machine
Going Under - Evanescence
Seven Devils - Florence and the Machine
Already Over Pt. 2 - Red
May It Be - Enya
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Isaac - Madonna (The lyrics are breathtaking)
Hymn for the Missing  - Red
