I haven’t read Dark
Room so I haven’t quite familiarized myself with Society X yet, and by the
premise of this book I was expecting a heavily erotic story that relies a lot
on the sexual elements to drive the plot, but I have to say that I was
pleasantly surprised. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with erotic
novels, and this book was no PG read. It fact, it was so smoking hot my Kindle
rebooted itself just to cool off!!
This story wasn’t all about the happenings of a sex club, it
was about the connection between two great people, and how they navigated the
hurdles that threatened to keep them apart, all the while on a mission to bring
down a cheating spouse. I liked Kennedy the second I met her. She had spunk.
She was down to earth and sweet, but also had a fiery, wild side that came out
whenever Hunter was present. Hunter wasn’t the typical bad boy we see so often.
Yes, he worked at a sex club, and yes, he’d had his fair share of women,
however, his actions throughout this book showed just how much of a sweet and
caring person he was. His love for his grandma melted my heart, making him all
the more endearing, but it was his devotion to Kennedy that really had me
falling for him.
Of course, their relationship wasn’t an easy one but they
handled everything pretty well. It was the outside threat of a conniving husband
that was the real source of drama in this story, giving it a dark twist that
had me gasping in shock on more than one occasion.
This book was very different from what I was expecting with
quite a few surprises. It was exciting and kept me entertained from start to
finish. It’s the type of book that will satisfy a wide variety of readers, so
whether you’re looking for a sweet romance or something a little steamier, this
is definitely the book for you. A great read.
