Loved it! And what’s more: even though I am a dinosaur in the Age of Technology, I understood the story line!  I loved the theme, the characters, the set up… I don’t wish to be too specific, but even just in the first episode are a ton of unexpected surprises, abundance of tensions, painful hints of backstory… this is a series I shall pursue to its conclusion.” Mallory Heart Reviews

The 5th book in The Liv Bergen Mystery Series, Solomon's Whisper, has just been released. Be sure to add it to your collection with the rest of the books in this series!! It is one you DO NOT want to miss out on!

Trying to convince Liv Bergen from resigning from the FBI to return to mining after nearly losing her nephew, Streeter Pierce asks Liv for one condition: to wait six months before making her resignation official or public.

Five months into the condition, Streeter becomes desperate to keep Liv, so he bends the rules and assigns her a seven year old cold case – Brianna Keller, a young girl taken from her bedroom during a slumber party and found dead along the road in the dessert near Vegas. Streeter believes if Liv sees how she can help her family, help avenge a child’s death, she may not feel as if she’s endangering them. So what better way than to assign her Brianna’s case? After all, Brianna is Liv’s niece, her sister Barbara’s youngest child.

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES

I love Brannan’s books because just when I think I’ve figured it out, Brannan shows me that I am completely and utterly stupid.  Not only have I not figured it out, there’s this side complication that I didn’t even consider!” - Unconventional Librarian

“Liv is a woman after my own heart.  Strong, intelligent, witted but also humble when it comes to it.  This was a fantastic novel which is surprising coming from an unknown author to me.  I was so sure I knew where all the real gems were and this one was definitely hiding!” - Mystery Sequels

I'm giving away the ENTIRE Liv Bergen Mystery Series!! ENTER HERE NOW!

Henry Swann Series” – Charles Salzberg

The latest installment in Charles Salzberg's Henry Swann Series release this October!!

When rare photos, a scandalous diary, and a beautiful woman all go missing at once, the stage is set for three challenging cases for Henry Swann. It begins with an offer to partner up with his slovenly, unreliable frenemy, Goldblatt. The disbarred lawyer-turned-"facilitator" would provide the leads and muscle, while Swann would do all the fancy footwork. A lost diary by a free-loving Jazz Age flapper is worth enough to someone that Swann takes a beat down on an abandoned boardwalk. Pilfered photos of Marilyn Monroe propel him deep into the past of an alcoholic shutterbug, his wife; and he's hired to search for a lonely writer's runaway girlfriend. The cases converge and collide in a finale that lifts the curtain on crucial, deadly facts of life for everyone ? including Swann himself.

Gear up for the release of Swann's Lake of Despair by grabbing a copy of the other books in the series!

BEST-SELLING LIV BERGEN SERIES CONTINUES WITH “SOLOMON’S WHISPER”

Writer Sandra Brannan introduces fifth murder mystery installment this September

RAPID CITY, SD – Sandra Brannan continues the Liv Bergen story in “Solomon’s Whisper” this September, giving readers arguably the most awaited answers about certain beloved characters in the thrilling murder mystery series.

The fifth installment in Brannan’s award-winning series, “Solomon’s Whisper” begins with agent Streeter Pierce desperately trying everything he can to keep Liv as part of the FBI team. He assigns her a seven-year-old cold case – Brianna Keller, a young girl taken from her bedroom during a slumber party and found dead along the road in the desert near Las Vegas. It’s a hard one to pass up for Liv, as Brianna is her niece.

Brannan’s ability to build a complex web of chills and killer suspense has landed her series on the Denver Post bestseller list, the top 10 for e-book mysteries and top 5 for women’s mysteries. The series also garnered two highly sought Indie Next Pick awards from independent booksellers across the country. Her success in the literary world led to Brannan being named one of the top 25 most fabulous women by Black Hills Magazine.

Library Journal calls Brannan’s books “good and scary.” Booklist recommends the series “for hardcore crime fiction fans.” And booksellers having been buzzing about the series from its launch.

It’s a “fast-paced, gripping mystery to be read with the lights on and the doors locked,” says Maria Upichard of Boswell Book Company in Sherburne Falls, Massachusetts. Brannan “lays a strong enticement to continue reading each offering in the proposed series,” raved Nancy Hansford of the Coloradoan. And Andrea Hoon, book department manager of Hastings in Gillette, Wyoming, said it’s the “best mystery series I’ve read in a long time.”

 GUEST POST

SOLOMON’S WHISPER, the 5th in the Liv Bergen Mystery Series, has been a fun book to write.  One of my favorite forms of creative tension is when the line is blurred between good and evil, right and wrong.   When I decided to write this book, my first thought was to create a situation that was uncomfortable, then turn everything inside out and have a reader cheer for the villain.  Could that actually work?

The premise of SOLOMON’S WHISPER is to have the reader wonder why he or she finds himself cheering on a murderer, actually marveling at the cleverness of a killer, rather than hope Liv Bergen catches him or her.  FBI Special Agent Liv Bergen find herself thrust into a personal cold case – her niece’s murder – only to discover several other cold cases with a common thread.  Someone is killing the suspected killers in the same manner that their victims were killed.  Same locations.  Same cause of death.  Same positions.

Since my first book tour for IN THE BELLY OF JONAH in 2010 when a book club explained how I got a scene wrong from a South Dakotan’s perspective, I have asked book clubs to be my beta reader for books I have yet to submit to the publisher.  Every book was improved because of the book club members’ suggestions.  SOLOMON’S WHISPER was no exception.  But what differed was during the critiquing sessions with both the NY and SD book clubs chosen, the members took hours to debate the twisted reality they found themselves in – who was good and who was bad – before we could really get into the improvements and changes needed.  I so appreciate the club members’ input that led to the explosive result in what is now SOLOMON’S WHISPER.   The question I have for THERIAN followers is this… Can you ever imagine yourself wanting a killer to remain free to pursue the goal of systematically removing the murderers of children who slipped through the fingers of justice?  Liv Bergen’s morality and belief in the legal system are certainly tested in this latest book.

I hope you check out the e-book and tell me what you think…

OTHER BOOKS IN THE LIV BERGEN MYSTERY SERIES

In the Belly of Jonah

In the Belly of Jonah is a fast-paced mystery with a likable protagonist and an intricately woven narrative brimming with bizarre yet believable twists. The first in a series, the book expertly lays the groundwork for Liv Bergen, amateur sleuth, and her love interest, FBI Agent Streeter Pierce. Liv becomes involved in the investigation of the murder of Jill Brannigan, a summer intern at the limestone mine Liv manages near Fort Collins, Colorado (a breathtaking setting that unwittingly becomes an accessory to crime). In doing so, she inadvertently puts her friends, her family, and herself at risk of being swallowed in the belly of a madman bloated with perverse appetites for women, surrealistic art, and renown.

As the gripping plot of In the Belly of Jonah unfolds, Liv Bergen takes her place alongside the best female crime-solvers as a woman with smarts, self-confidence, and intuitive savvy.

Lot's Return to Sodom

Sharp-witted Liv Bergen can't avoid becoming embroiled in murders, it seems. Her family's hometown of Sturgis, South Dakota, is quickly becoming the Sodom of the Black Hills during the dog days of summer as it hosts the infamous rally of grizzled hard-core motorcycle bikers--half a million of them. Crime comes too close for comfort when Liv must solve the mystery of a beautiful young townie to clear her brother's name. Liv witnesses the vile death of another young woman, and during her investigation of both crimes she attracts the uninvited attentions of the menacing leader of Lucifer's Lot--the baddest of the bad biker gangs. Her quick wit and pragmatic thinking are all that stands between her and certain elimination.

FBI agent Streeter Pierce is back on the trail, working undercover to find the murderer and a shadow criminal called the Crooked Man. When he and Liv cross paths, sparks are flying, literally.

Widow's Might

The third Liv Bergen mystery picks up right where the second one left off: the murder of Liv’s sister-in-law has been solved, but an older rancher has been bludgeoned to death in a style eerily reminiscent of a long-inactive killer known only as the Crooked Man. FBI agent Streeter Pierce, still on assignment in Sturgis, South Dakota, must now turn his sights on tracking down the killer, who happens to be his nemesis from ten years earlier. Pierce doesn’t complain, though; he’s falling in love with Liv Bergen and sets in motion an unconventional way to recruit her for the FBI’s training camp in Quantico, Virginia, as they work the case together. But is Liv falling for the brilliant, exotic-looking agent Jack Linwood instead?

Once again, Liv’s vast knowledge of the Black Hills of South Dakota—the territory General Custer made famous—and the modern day ranchers and environmentalists who live there leads her to unearth critical clues about the Crooked Man. Aided by her elfin sister with rainbow-colored hair, a sad-eyed bloodhound, and a terminally ill Norwegian widow, Liv ultimately identifies the deranged killer. But will her barrage of questions be enough to fend off a fatal blow from the very cane he used to crush the skulls of thirteen other victims?

Noah's Rainy Day

From birth, Noah Hogarty has lived with severe cerebral palsy. He is nearly blind, unable to speak, and cannot run, walk, or crawl. Yet his mind works just as well as any other twelve-year-old’s—maybe even better. And Noah holds a secret dream: to become a great spy, following in the footsteps of his aunt, Liv “Boots” Bergen.

Now, freshly returned from training at Quantico, FBI agent Liv Bergen is thrown into her first professional case. Working side by side with veteran agent Streeter Pierce, enigmatic agent and lover Jack Linwood, and her bloodhound Beulah, Liv must race to find five-year-old Max—last seen at the Denver International Airport—before this Christmastime abduction turns deadly. Meanwhile Noah, housebound, becomes wrapped up in identifying the young face he sees watching him from his neighbor’s bedroom window, but he can neither describe nor inscribe what he knows.

And his investigation may lead to Noah paying the ultimate price in fulfilling his dream.

Noah’s Rainy Day (the fourth novel in Brannan’s mystery series) combines classic Liv Bergen irreverence and brainpower with an unflinching look at the darkest of human motivations, all while a whirlpool of increasingly terrifying events threatens to engulf Liv and Noah both in one final rainy day.

 ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sandra Brannan has created a heart-pounding mystery thriller series around Liv Bergen, a woman who embodies the spirit of South Dakota. Much like her character Liv Bergen, Brannan has spent her career in the mining business.

Working her way up from day laborer in the company her grandfather founded to a top executive in the family business wasn’t easy, as Sandra often received threats from those opposed to mining. These life experiences gave her a firstperson perspective into the high-stakes scenarios of which she writes.

In response to the overwhelming success of In the Belly of Jonah (2010), Lot’s Return To Sodom (2011), Widow’s Might (2012) and Noah’s Rainy Day (2013), Brannan prioritizes her time first to the librarians and booksellers for nominating her to earn two ABA Indie Next List Notables, to book clubs and fans who have described Liv Bergen as the love child of Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Milhone and Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, and to teachers for all the gratitude she has for their role in her success. Her books have landed on the Denver Post best-seller list and reached the top 10 for e-book mysteries and top 5 for women’s mysteries. She celebrates the launch of the fifth book in her series, Solomon’s Whisper, in September 2014.

Named one of the top 25 most fabulous women by Black Hills Magazine, Brannan lives in her hometown of Rapid City, South Dakota, with her husband. Their budding family consists of four boys and three grandchildren.
