Cover Reveal: My Junior Year of Loathing by Jennifer DiGiovanni

My Junior Year of Loathing
Jennifer DiGiovanni

Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: September 6th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult
Junior year is supposed to be tough. Exams, term papers, homework, college tours, and participation in extra-curricular activities can all add up to non-stop stress. But Melinda Banner has goals to achieve and dreams to make real. This year, she’ll be unstoppable. But even over achievers need a break.
While walking in the woods to take a break from the stress of it all, Melinda meets a boy named Connor. After a few more run-ins, the two settle into an uneasy friendship, if you can even call it that.
But Connor’s closed and mysterious. Whenever Melinda asks too many questions, he suddenly has to go or is no longer interested in talking. When they’re together, she’s torn between wanting him to open up and running away as fast as she can. Still she can’t seem to shake her budding interest in him.
Connor has his own way of looking at the world, and his views often conflict with Melinda’s practical nature. Can you like someone and loathe them at the same time? Is he even worth the emotional tug on her heartstrings or distraction from all things Junior year?
And, as if she needs another project right now, Melinda starts to obsess over the abandoned estate she passes on the way to school each day. Between Connor and the old estate, Melinda’s beginning to think she’s taking on too much.
But Melinda’s smart. She finds a way to indulge her interest in the estate and fulfill her obligations. She will uncover the truth behind the aging edifice for an epic article in the school newspaper.
But when her investigation reveals a connection between Connor and a tragedy long-since forgotten, Melinda has a choice: put off her junior year achievements to save a local landmark and a boy who constantly pushes her away or put them both out of her mind for good and focus on making the grade.

“Little brother forgot about you?” Hearing his voice again makes me grit my teeth in annoyance. I stare straight ahead, shoving my phone back into my pocket and crossing my arms over my chest. I refuse to give him any attention after what just happened. When he realizes I’m not going to respond, he sighs. “C’mon, let me give you a ride. Max probably just fell asleep or something.”
He reaches for my elbow, and I jerk out of his reach. “No, that’s okay. I’ll just go back to my room and wait for him. He’ll probably be there by the time I get there.”
Clay makes a noise in his throat, but I’m not sure if he’s agreeing with me or not. “Or, you could just come with me and yell at him sooner.” “You know you want to,” he continues to cajole me. “Just think how bad he’s going to feel knowing you had to bum a ride from me. When you finally forgive him, he’ll be ready to promise you anything. Hell, that assmunch will probably give you his car if you want it.” He bumps shoulders with me, a hopeful grin on his face.
I can’t stop the answering grin that crosses mine. “Please, like anyone would want the Great Pumpkin.” My face flames as soon as the words leave my mouth. I clap my hands over it like it’s enough to bring them back, but it’s too late. Ohmigod! I’ve never told anyone my secret name for Max’s car. He’s going to kill me if he finds out.
Clay doubles over laughing, muttering, “Great Pumpkin. Holy shit, that’s funny. Great Pumpkin!” I’ve never seen him laugh so hard. He’s almost in tears. Once he calms himself down, he looks over at me, a huge smile on his face. “That’s classic. I can’t wait to see his face when I tell him what you call his precious baby.”
“No!” I shriek, dropping my hands from my mouth and holding them out towards him. “Clay. Seriously. You can’t tell him! He’d be so mad. You have to promise. Please! I’ll do anything!” Shit! I didn’t mean to say that.
Clay looks over at me, his grin even wider. I didn’t think it could get bigger than it already was. “Anything? Hmm, that could be interesting.”
He looks like he’s considering his options, so I hurry to clarify, “Anything that isn’t sexual, illegal or immoral.” Clay’s face falls, and swear to God, he pouts.
“Well, you’re no fun.”
I roll my eyes. “No, I’m just not stupid and I don’t want to end up expelled or in jail or the health clinic because you gave me the Clap.”
“The Clap?!” Clay puts a hand over his heart, gasping like he’s wounded. “I can’t believe you’d think that of me, Kitty Kat. I always, always wrap my guy. No STD’s here.” He runs his hand down his stomach, resting it on the button of his jeans as he leers at me. “Don’t be shy, little kitten. If you want to see, you just have to ask.”
Cringing away from him, I make a gagging sound. “You’re such a pig. I wouldn’t touch you if you were the last guy on Earth, and it was up to us to procreate.”

Cover Reveal: One Summer with Autumn by Julie Reece

One Summer with Autumn
Julie Reece

Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: October 11th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Seventeen-year-old Autumn Teslow arrives at her father’s job fair knowing she’ll never measure up to the perfect image of daddy’s little girl—her twin sister.
Wearing anger management issues like a second skin won’t help Autumn win her dad’s approval for the big trip she’s been planning—or meet his condition that she successfully complete a summer internship for college.
Autumn’s cool unravels when her sister lectures against disappointing the family again. And when a young, bearded guy steps through the crowd to settle the growing argument between siblings, Autumn lashes out, dubbing him a “Duck Dynasty wannabe.”
At Nineteen, Caden Behr is clueless as to why his man parts are threatened by the fearsome girl before him. He’d only come to find an intern for his recreational equipment company, not break up a girl-fight between two sisters.
Unfortunately, the only candidate left is the girl who just told him off. Without her, he’ll never prove to his CEO mother that he’s ready for more responsibility.
Autumn and Caden agree that if they can keep from killing one another, they can use one another to get what they want and then never have to see each other again. Which is what they want.
Until it isn’t.
Because despite her best efforts to scare him off, and his fading desire to push her into the lake, they’re beginning to enjoy the time they spend together. But pride is a hard habit to break. And if neither will admit their changing feelings, they could lose a whole lot more than one summer.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As a child, Julie’s summers were about horseback riding and fishing, while winter brought sledding and ice-skating on frozen ponds. Most of life was magical, but not all. She struggled with multiple learning disabilities, and spent much of her time gazing out windows and daydreaming. In the fourth grade (with the help of one very nice teacher) she fought dyslexia for her right to read and won.
Afterward, she invented stories where powerful heroines kicked bad-guy butt to win the hearts charismatic heroes. And then she wrote one down…
Writing ever since, Julie weaves southern gothic, contemporary, fantasy, and young adult romances. She enjoys sweeping tales of mystery and epic adventure… which must include a really hot guy. Her writing is proof a dream and some hard work can overcome any obstacle.

Book Blitz: Excerpt + #Giveaway: French Fries With A Side of Guys by Rebekah L. Purdy

French Fries With A Side of Guys
Rebekah L. Purdy

Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: September 14th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult

Payton Carter is one of six kids (all of which are named after famous football players), not to mention the only girl in the Carter household. With this much testosterone and no mother, it’s no wonder she’s absolutely clueless when it comes to makeup, dances, and talking to guys she’s crushing on. And now she’s about ready to start her freshman year of high school, which is nerve wrenching enough, but when she ends up running into her crush, Chance Montgomery, at her dad’s sports restaurant, she finds out that the quarterback for their rival team is moving to Aller Falls. This is nothing short of fate.
Payton realizes she has to find a way to impress Chance and get him to ask her out or at least know she’s interested in him—preferably without dropping a plateful of fries on his head, like she did last time. After taking her two oldest brothers’ advice, she decides to go out for the freshman football team, figuring that between practices and games she and her crush will surely be able to talk. And maybe talking will lead to something more permanent or at least to a first kiss. Only this plan backfires in ways she never imagined, when she beats Chance Montgomery out of the starting quarterback position. Now not only does she make him the laughing stock of the team, but also has to figure out how to avoid the snotty cheerleaders, a traitor best friend, not to mention winning games for her team. Too bad this is just the beginning of her freshman year.

EXCERPT
Payton sat on the porch swing biting her nails until there was nothing left of them. She glared at the bleeding cuticle, like it was at fault for her butterflies and
nausea. She swung her legs back and forth, smacking her best friend Kelly’s in the process.

“Sorry.” Payton grimaced.

“Are you sure you’re up for this?” Kelly rubbed her shin. She gave her chin-length black hair a toss, peering at Payton with concern.

“Yeah, I only hope I can get Chance’s attention.” She traced the grain of wood in the swing. “And if I wasn’t nervous enough, now my brothers and dad want to watch
me try out.” She rolled her eyes, shifting her attention to the helmet by her side. Up until about five minutes ago, she’d managed to keep her worries in check. But the closer she got to tryout time, the more her palms sweated and her heart thudded out of control. If she wasn’t careful, she might just vomit.

“From what you’ve told me, I think he might already be into you, so why go to all this trouble? Besides, you’re supposed to want to date the football player, not be the
football player.” She bumped Payton’s shoulder with hers.

“I love football, and this is my one chance to show everyone I’ve got what it takes to make it, boys or no boys. I mean, you know how it is with me, Kel—I eat, sleep, and breathe football … ” Payton leaned over so Kelly could finish braiding her hair, while she was still trying to put the pads into her football pants.

“Have you told Jake you’re trying out yet?”

Jake. Payton’s other BFF. Who was still overseas, living it up, while they roasted their asses off here. “No. Not yet. I figure I’ll text him if I make the team.”

The sun was already beating down, and it was only supposed to get more humid as the day progressed. Not that it would really matter; she was already sweating like a hog.

Book Tour: Excerpt: Consumed by Elizabeth Miceli

Stacey Lorenzo has finished treatment, but is still devastated by her past as she enters college. With drugs and alcohol so readily available, so much freedom, and barely any supervision, Stacey falls back into old habits. Soon it’s a daily dose of partying, self-medicating, and having sex with lots of different guys. As her relationship with Eli destructs, she falls for Jesse, who just so happens to be a drug dealer. Every time she starts to fall back into the memories of her past, Jesse makes it easy to snort away the pain.

But she snorts too much one night; it forces her to question the man she loves and acknowledge her mental and emotional  instability. In the second installment of The Barren Series, Stacey must overcome her addiction and make peace with her past if she is ever to be truly happy again.

EXCERPT
“Stacey!” Jesse moaned into my ear as I ripped through my second orgasm. My whole body shook through it; my mouth opened wide. I was shocked by how this felt, I had never been this consumed in missionary position.
But then something seemed to change. I was so high that I just couldn’t really focus. My eyes blurred and as he thrust inside me harder. With every hard thrust, I became just a little more scared. I started to shake and my legs instinctively closed. My breathing became shallow and quick just as Jesse started to slow down.
          “Stacey? Is it too hard?”
           I exhaled.
This is Jesse. This is not Mike raping you. You want this. You want him inside you.
“A little. Can we slow down?” I didn’t want to tell him that hard sex reminded me of my rape.
“Of course I can,” he whispered.
His strong hands came down to my legs, which he slowly stroked with his fingers. With that soft touch, my legs opened up bit by bit, welcoming him inside. He rocked inside me more gently than I could have asked for. And with every tender thrust that wasn’t accompanied by anything hard, fast, or violent, I reminded myself where I was. I was in the arms of a protector, not a monster.

“Your nose is bleeding.”
I brought my hand to my nose and nodded.
Ugh. I snorted coke last night.
My whole body contorted and I ran to Derek’s bathroom as quickly as I could. I made it just in time. Blood and acid trickled from my nostrils, vomit spewed violently from my mouth, and tears poured from my ducts.
Eli caught up with me, closed the door, and pulled my hair back into a neat bun. His soft hands rubbed my back gently until finally, after what seemed like years, my body stopped betraying me and calmed. The stress Eli felt was written all over his face; he couldn’t imagine the idea of me being hurt, sick, under his watch. He handed me some tissues for my nose and held me to his chest on the tile floor. He didn’t say a word but I knew that he was worried; he felt betrayed by my choices. I hated that I had let him down again. I cried so hard I threw up again.

Book Tour: Excerpt + #Giveaway: Graham by Natalie Decker

Graham Nichols’s main goal in life is to forget. Getting high, completely wasted, and running through a string of sexy blonds daily helps him achieve this task. But one night of partying lands him in a heap of trouble and sent back to the confinements of his hometown. Things can’t possibly get worse, right?

Sarah Morris can't seem to run fast enough away from her past. She’s spent months trying to amend her ways, and is doing a pretty good job. She’s getting good grades, isn't acting like a spoiled brat, and even works at the local grocery store. The last thing she needs is a distraction.

Enter Graham Nichols, the one mistake Sarah can't escape.

EXCERPT
Hell-effing-no, I’m not all right! I saw Graham today. The guy I’m still in love with. The guy who will own my heart forever. The guy I purposely started dating to piss off Maddy and wound up head over heels for. Because Maddy and I had to work at being friends and not enemies with each other. I did everything in my power to piss her off. I saw the way her eyes lit up at the first mention of Graham and how she ran down the stairs to greet him. Yeah, I was a world-class bitch. There, I said it. But why was I so mean to Madison? For a long time I thought Madison knew that were kind-of-sisters and hid it from me. And I was extremely jealous of her—who wouldn’t be? Maddy is smart, pretty, talented, and she’s got a hot guy who adores her. Also, her parents are really cool people and a close-knit bunch. Whereas my parents and I are … not. The Issacs’ idea of family time is movies, family vacations, game nights—that kind of stuff. My parents’ idea of family time was throwing money at me while they did whatever they wanted without me. Until one day the FBI came and took them both to jail. Because my parents are crooks.

“I’m fine. At least, I will be. I just … I ran into Graham.”

“Graham? Why would you run into him?”

I almost snap at her, “How the hell am I supposed to know?” She and her boyfriend are BFFs with him, not me. I mean, hello! But hey, Maddy sounds as clueless as I am. Maybe Graham hasn’t told them. But why not? “I don’t know, he didn’t tell me. He mostly grumbled and growled. He still hates me.”

“I’m pretty sure he doesn’t hate you, Sarah. He’s just … he’s probably still a little hurt. Anyway, you were bound to run into him at some point. You most likely won’t see him again until Thanksgiving or maybe Christmas. I wouldn’t stress too much about it.”

I roll my eyes as I turn onto her parents’ street. “I hope he never runs into me again.” Okay, I don’t actually mean that. I just wish he didn’t look at me like I stole his soul. That’s what I hope to never see again.

“So, other than that drama, how’s everything else?”

“Fine. Henry asked me out again. Ugh. I swear I’m going to slip poison in his sweet tea if he keeps it up. How many times must I say no before he gets the freaking clue that I’m never going out with him?”

“Tell him you’re into women,” Bryce says.

My face instantly heats. “Oh my God! Did you put me on speaker?”

“I had to, sorry. I’m trying to chop veggies while talking to you.”

“Whatever. I’ve got to do some homework. Good night, you two.”

“Night,” they both say, and I hang up.

Dragging myself into my bedroom, I shut the door and plop down on my bed. I’m exhausted. I should take a shower. I should go downstairs and get some food in me. I should do my homework, or start on it, since it’s not due until Friday. But I don’t. I let my eyes fall shut and sleep takes over.
