REVIEW

 

 I'm a huge fan of Paranormal Romances, and Werewolves are my ultimate favorite paranormal creature, so when Dominic Ridolfi walked into my life, it was almost the end of me. Damn! He was one fine specimen.

 

But before my review turns into an ode to Dominic...

 

This book was exciting. I've read many Paranormal Romances, most of which include Vampires and Werewolves, and I'm always intrigued by how the author will spin the tale of these two creatures. I loved the idea of Kate being human in the beginning, not knowing her true identity, and the fact that Dominic was sent to kill her. These two were most definitely the definition of star-crossed lovers. They were the Romeo and Juliet of the Paranormal world and my heart broke a little for them with the knowledge that no matter how much they loved each other, the war between their kinds would in one way or another keep them apart. Or would it? That was the question that really spurred me on as I read this great story.

 

Dominic was willing to give up so much for Kate, but would she be willing to give him her heart completely? I had so much hope that they'd find each other along the way, but there were so many factors against them. Trust was a big issue, and then there was the obvious hate between their kinds, not to mention golden boy Alex. Kate also had so much to deal with as the life she knew was ripped to shreds. I did feel that she kind of took to her new life too easily. She questioned things but never really fought against them. The only part of her new life she was adamant about wanting nothing to do with was the blood drinking.

 

This story was an intriguing tale of forbidden love and family loyalty, as Dominic and Kate both struggled with doing what was right; what was expected of them, or following their hearts no matter the cost. It was a great read.

REVIEW

I haven't read a great horror in forever, and this was one creepy and terrifying read. The fact that I read this book during a thunderstorm, alone in the dark, only added to the scare factor, and I was constantly looking over my shoulder. It was brilliant.


I'm a huge believer in the paranormal - ghosts, spirits, and the like, and Ghost Hunters is one of my favorite TV shows. This story was a chilling tale of the evil that lurks in the shadows, or in this case the mirrors. And even though this story was one of fiction, the fact that the things that took place in Siler House could happen in real life made it all the more terrifying. Anyone who has ever experienced anything supernatural will agree with me.


The plotline was intriguing and quite similar to Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House; a group of strangers brought together for a paranormal experiment that quickly turns deadly. It was obvious from the beginning that something wasn’t quite right with Siler House, but I would have probably been as excited to explore it as Jess was, even with something sinister dwelling within its walls.


I liked that the characters each had their own strange supernatural abilities, and it was exciting to watch them learn to harness their powers, although it was a little frightening along the way. The change in certain characters was subtle but still visible, and as the story developed, the darker it became. I could actually feel the shift as the wickedness of Siler House took over. Muto held nothing back. She allowed the darkness of this tale to seep into every page, every word, of her story, giving me everything I want and need from a great horror.

REVIEW

This was such a fantastic, fun read.

I'm not a huge fan of short stories and novellas, but King delivers a read that is so full of life that it felt like I'd read a full length novel. I do wish there was no end to this story though. I'd love to read more about Jamie and Grant, they were just such a fun, adorable set of characters. They made the perfect couple.

Anything and everything that could go wrong for these two great people, did. It was brilliantly entertaining and had me laughing out loud a number of times. I especially loved the scene in the roach invested motel. Hilarious. It had me in tears. The scene played in my head so clearly and I could just feel Jamie's annoyance when she wrestled with the sheet and took out her anger on it. It sounds like something I would do :)

I really loved Grant's boyish charm. He was fun, and made fun of Jamie, much to her annoyance. But there was definite chemistry between these two and it only intensified with each passing second they spent with each other.

If you are looking for something fun and sexy, do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Cross Country Christmas. You will be thoroughly entertained.
