REVIEW
I wasn’t
too keen on this book when I first started reading it. It seemed to move really
slowly, and I just couldn’t get into the story, but the second Sera found
herself at the Academy, the story exploded with life and I was sucked into the
fascinating and magical world of the Wanderers.
This
story was an exciting mix of mythology, magic, romance and mystery, with many
layers that kept me on my toes the whole way through. The time travel element
was unique and I loved how the past and present intertwined creating an
intricately woven web of truth and lies.
The
characters were all really well written with distinguishable personalities that
sometimes clashed, but when they were in harmony it was a beautiful thing to
see. I was whisked away on a fantastical ride back in time, and I loved every
second of it.
This
book surprised me in so many ways. I am hooked and I need more.
Title: Protecting Truth
Series: Seraphina Parrish Trilogy # 2
Author: Michelle Warren
Publication Date: September 19th, 2012
Genre: YA/Fantasy/Time Travel/Romance
Seraphina’s keeping a secret from her Wandering team: she’s perfecting her fighting skills. But telling Sam and Bishop the truth would only alert them to her plan: to go back in time, save her mom, and finish what she started. With the help of Turner, Bishop’s handsome twin, she progresses toward her goal but plummets deeper into dangerous territory where the lines of friendship and romance are blurred. One passionate kiss changes everything, leading Sera to unravel a shocking web of family secrets, heartbreaking ulterior motives, and sinister agendas. Love and lies collide in a haunting climax, where the truest souls may not survive.
REVIEW
I was
thrilled to continue the journey with Sera and her team, and when Turner was
thrown into the mix, the emotional rollercoaster ride I’d been enjoying since
book one reached pivotal heights.
Warren
continued to masterfully weave a web so fragile it could destroy her character’s
lives, while pushing them to their limits. Nothing about this story was
predictable and the many twists and turns made my head spin, but in the most
exciting and enthralling way. The romance ignited and the mystery intensified. I
found myself questioning everything that happened, because I knew it would link
up to the past or present, somewhere along the way, and I kept wondering who to
trust; who was friend and who was foe.
I have
never loved and hated a character at the same time, but Bishop churned these
conflicting emotions within me. My heart broke for him and a second later I
wanted to punch him in the face for his deceit. My heart melted, hardened and
then shattered so many times I’m not sure if I’ll fully recover. Especially
after that final battle, when loyalties were tested and devastation ensued.
Warren
is an amazing writer. Each chapter ended with a cliffhanger, and I could not
for the life of me, and the characters I’ve grown to love so much, put this
book down even for a second. This was an absolutely brilliant follow up to Wander Dust.

REVIEW
Could
this series get any better?? The answer? Hell, YES!
Warren
doesn’t give her characters a break! I think she loves torturing them, and I’m
all for it so long as she keeps me as entertained and enthralled as she has
throughout this amazing series.
This
book was a culmination of all the lies and secrets that surfaced in the first
two books, but there is no end to how deep this story goes. Just when I thought
I couldn’t be surprised again, Warren threw in the ultimate curveball, and I
had an OMG moment. It was thrilling when the truth behind EVERYTHING was
finally revealed. I was giddy with excitement. The sheer brilliance of Warren’s
writing and her navigation of such an intricate plotline has left me in awe.
This
series is outstanding in so many ways, and easily outrivals the likes of the Harry
Potter franchise, and should not be missed.
