Sebastian's hands settled beneath her ass, and Mariss hopped, wrapping her legs around his waist. He carried her over to the dresser and set her on the edge. His large hands slid under her shirt, caressing her skin. They were so warm, heating her through to the core.
"I don't think this is what Holden had in mind when he told me to take care of you, May," Sebastian said against the curve of her neck. In the last weeks, he'd taken to alternating between calling her May and Red. Either nickname made her loins ache.Mariss shivered and tipped her head to the side so he had better access to the place that made her melt. "He knew what would happen," she gasped when his goatee brushed a sensitive spot.
Mariss Red was born in Germany, but when she got into some gang related trouble, her mother sent her to America to live with her military father. To fit in, Mariss dropped her accent and became “American.” She is now married to Holden Red, a basketball player, and owns a publishing company.

This has to be one of the best adult contemporary erotic romances I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
I have to admit that I haven’t read the first book in this series, and I probably should have, because at the beginning of this book I felt like the odd man out. As the characters partied it up, as Marris and Sebastian shared knowing smiles and looks, I knew there was so much more to this story and it obviously all went down in the first book; but, having said that, it took nothing away from this book. In fact, it actually added a sense of mystery to the story and I cannot wait to read A Man Without Rules.
I really got sucked into this story when a devastating turn of events shattered Marris’ life, and the emotions just flowed from the pages from that point on, as she tried to put herself back together with the help of some amazing friends.
Mariss’ relationship with Sebastian was complicated. There was an obvious attraction and plenty of chemistry, but Bassy’s way of life meant he wouldn’t become emotionally involved, therefore Marris was forced to do the same. I really loved how mature their friendship and relationship was. They knew what was expected of them and what they each expected, and even though deep down there was a longing for more, they never allowed their feelings to mess with things. There were times that both of them showed their jealous streak, but that only intensified the sexual tension between them. I really fell in love with them as individuals and as a couple. They were fun and witty people that I could get along with in real life. I loved their sarcasm, I understood their moodiness, and my heart ached for both of them when life seemed to drown them in misery.
This book was emotionally charged with tons of humor, great sex scenes, even better friendships, and the ultimate test of how love can change people for the better. With a solid plotline, clean and crisp writing that held my attention throughout, and exciting characters, I can only describe it as flawless.
