SYNOPSIS

Aria Darwin has always considered herself cursed. She is obsessed with finding a cure for the bad boyfriend plague. Worse yet, she’s in denial about her weird abilities and terrified of her mysterious stalker who causes the earth to quake violently with the snap of his finger.

With her two best friends, Aria enters her first semester of college armed with a “no more men” pact in an effort to demagnetize the sleaze balls. Unfortunately, the agreement proves difficult when she meets Liam, a charming foreign exchange student, on the first day of school.

Aria quickly discovers that Liam is not only Mr. Perfect, but he also somehow ignites her supernatural side. Upon the invitation of her dream guy, Aria travels to Ireland through the study abroad program, dragging her friends along with her. But her world of euphoric bliss quickly comes crashing down as she uncovers the truth about her past, revealing who she really is and what she was born to do.

REVIEW

This book was an interesting start to a trilogy that promises to be exciting.

I'm gonna jump right into it and discuss the the gorgeous Irish men who fill the pages of this story.

Liam was delectable. A real charmer, and even though I had my suspicions about him, I moved them a side for the time being, because who can resist a sexy foreign accent and those gorgeous grey eyes. Although Liam had ther prince charming act down pat, I was extremely intrigued by the 'shadow man', as I like to refer to him, Clay. He had that dark, mysterious, bad boy appeal and I couldn't wait for him to make more of an appearance. I also had my suspicions about his motives, though.

I'm not really sure how I felt about Aria. She wasn't a complete flake, but she was just a little too naïve and clueless. I mean, anyone who thinks about giving, douchebag Doug, a second chance has obviously never heard of the saying, "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me."

And then to top it off, she was so easily swayed to forget the pact she made with her girls. And I couldn't believe that she didn't even think twice about trapsing across the world for a guy, no matter how she felt about him. Silly, silly girl. Even after shadow man's warning and the strange electric spark that passed between her and Liam whenever they touched.

I guess we've all had those moments of weakness when our heart wins the race before our mind has even had a chance to process things properly. But Aria's actions were far more dangerous than simply resulting in a broken heart. Something she soon found out when things went pear-shaped in Ireland.

Overall I really enjoyed the mythology in this story and the spin Bernel put on the Fae folklore. It was an enthralling read and I was sucked in from the beginning.

Readers of YA Supernatural Romances will love every bit of this story, and I for one am excited to read book 2. I give it an enjoyable...

IGNITE (FAE-WITCH #2)

If time heals all wounds, then Aria Darwin’s clock has stopped. No amount of magic elixir can repair a broken heart. In the aftermath of untruths and tainted love, Aria is unsure if she will ever recover to see the light of her destiny.

Now living in the enchanted city of Draíochta, along with her two best friends, Aria struggles to find her place in the Kingdom. A plan must be set to ensure the safety of her people, but how can they believe in her if she can’t believe in herself.

With the assistance of her Guard Keeper, Clay, she slowly develops her powers, but will she be strong enough to destroy her enemy? Will she ever remember what was once ignited in her soul, and the real question is will she run or will she fight?

REIGN (FAE-WITCH #3)

For Aria Darwin, playing with fire has become a way of life, not because her powers have finally been unearthed, but because she’s drawn to the dormant light sparking behind Clay’s eyes. With every move towards that light, she risks her title as Queen. Even though she’s terrified of getting burned by the backdraft, Aria can’t seem to ignore the tempered blaze buried in her heart.

After a disturbing vision, Aria withholds a deadly secret in order to protect her Kingdom. Her people, her friends, not even Clay knows the truth as she makes peace with her destiny. Aria is looking to the future but the past keeps haunting her dreams, and she fears that the cost to defeat her enemy will be a much greater sacrifice than her soul.

GLASS CASTLES (PREQUEL NOVELLA, FAE-WITCH #4)

Clay can't sleep, he never could. Every night he'd close his eyes knowing the dreams would be waiting, but he couldn't quite understand them, making each night more restless than the last. Clay was desperate to find answers to his dreams, and his need to escape Draíochta was beginning to drive him mad. He badly missed his Brother and wanted to visit him, but deep down he knew the need to leave was about more than family. There was a void in him that was growing more painful with each passing day. Life should be perfect for the fourteen year old Prince. It wasn't.

Glass Castles is the story of Clay, a prequel novella to my Fae-Witch Trilogy. See Ari through Clay's eyes, their day on the beach, and the events leading up to the moment that would change their lives, forever. It is meant to be read as the 4th and final in the series. Spoiler Alert: fair warning that if this short book is read before the Trilogy, you'll learn information meant to be revealed over time within the series.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jenna Bernel lives tucked along the bluffs, spending her days lost in the world of fantasy. When she’s not writing, she’s reading and drinks way to much caffeine to satisfy her love of both. Growing up she traveled extensively through the competitive dance circuit, unaware that at the time it would provide her future career an endless stream of inspiration for the captivating drama of Young Adult Fiction.
I enjoy all things travel, food and adventure.  While doing research for a trip to Ireland the idea for my book series, The Secret Trinity, came to life and would be the beginning of my greatest adventure yet.
