I was so thrilled to get a chance to read this book. I loved Soar, with all its amazing characters and the uniqueness that came with the story, and I could not wait to see what more was in store for Casey and her friends.
Where Soar focused a lot on the love triangle between Casey, Toby and Jared, this book delved more into Casey's newly discovered heritage as a Pteron, and a royal one at that. But there was still plenty of romance and Toby and Casey lit up the pages on more than one occasion. I will admit, though, that I missed Jared. He played a part in this story but I just didn't get enough of him. I missed his flirtatiousness and the wicked bad boy from the first book. I can't help it! I'm definitely TEAM JARED all the way, even when he was being a bit of a douche to Casey.
There were a few extra twists thrown into the second book of this series, and one major one that blindsided me right at the end. It was exciting and promises to continue in an enthralling manner with the next book. I'm in for the ride and cannot wait for more.
EXCERPT
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but my place or yours?”
He got a twinkle in his eyes. “What way would I take that, Casey?”
I shut my eyes tight. I wasn’t supposed to get that shiver when he said my name. Not after what Nelly told me. Not after Jared. Not after finding out the truth. But I did. I reluctantly opened my eyes again.
“Let’s go with mine. It’s more spacious.” His eyes studied me, waiting for my reaction.
We had memories at his place. Recent memories I’d been trying to forget.
“All right.” I tore my eyes from his face. He’d gotten a far off look, and I knew he was thinking about the first kiss. The one that felt more like perfection than any other kiss before or since.
