It’s summer in Shaver and, frankly, Dahlia Kennedy is bored. Even though she and Eva are throwing a party for David and she gets to visit Rowan in Ambrosia easier on account of summer hours, it seems like senior year is never going to come. Worse yet, it’s looking like the one thing she’s planned on doing for forever isn’t going to happen.
Cue Dahlia’s Embarrassing Incident: the tipping point that seems to shift everything into a new direction. David’s acting weird. Something happens to Rowan. Dahlia’s forced to ask the least likely person ever for help. A secret is blown wide open.
Conflict between the Lennox Rochforts and the Townsends grows more and more out of control until so much is going on in Ambrosia, Dahlia can barely keep up with life at home. Frustrated with trying to keep track of who knows what, Dahlia continues fighting to help the people she loves, and slowly, the truth is exposed.
Crazy thing is, she had no idea about any of it. And it changes everything she’s ever known.

DREAM CAST
There are two separate places in the Flora series, the first being Shaver, California; the other being Ambrosia.
Ambrosian dream cast
This is my Ambrosian dream
cast. I began writing the Flora series a few years ago, and at the time, many
of the movies/shows I used for inspiration were already a few years old. So,
while some of these people are still at the appropriate character age in real
life, many are now technically a bit older than their character counterparts.
Still, I hope the photos speak for themselves, as their features and gestures
are what inspired me as I wrote.
Rowan Rochfort: a young Sean Faris
Sean Faris has been in quite a few things over
the years, but the one that sold me for Rowan was Forever Strong.
Queen Sage: Vera Farmiga
Have you ever seen The Boy in the Striped Pajamas? Ugh. Vera is a wonderful, gorgeous
actress. She is *the* perfect Queen Sage.
Briscoe Caddock: a young James McAvoy
The perfect sidekick, protector, and friend.
Yep. That’s Briscoe.
Daphne Caddock (Briscoe’s
sister): Brie Larson
Phoenix Caddock (Brisoce
& Daphne’s father, and
senior Royal Ambrosian
guard): Dolph Lundgren
Durian Blythe: Ben Foster
I imagine Ben as Durian but much taller and
with
broad shoulders and bright red hair.
Astigar (Queen Sage’s
personal bodyguard): Kunal
Kapoor
Clementine (Rowan’s fox)
Ebon (Rowan’s Friesian)

Shaver dream cast
This is my Shaver dream cast.
I began writing IF I SPEAK TRUE (the first in the Flora series) a few years
ago, and many of the movies/shows I used for inspiration were already a few
years old at the time. So, while some of these people are still at the
appropriate character age in real life, many are now technically a bit older
than their character counterparts. Still, I hope the photos speak for
themselves, as their features and gestures are what inspired me to write them
as they are. And now, without further ado…
Acacia Kennedy (the younger of Dahlia’s older twin sisters): Mae Whitman
Aster Kennedy (the oldest of Dahlia’s twin
sisters): a young Missy Peregrym
Helen Kennedy (Dahlia, Aster & Acacia’s
mom): Carla Gugino
Eva Heaton (Dahlia’s best friend): Francia Raisa
David Bridges (Dahlia’s other best friend): I’ve actually been searching for the perfect
David for years, and I’ve finally found him! Yay! Sterling Beauman
Joshua Bridges (David’s dad): Kyle Chandler
Terrance White (Dahlia’s neighbor and co-worker
at Shoreline Books): Jarod Joseph
Shane (Terrance’s cousin new to Shaver—also an upcoming
senior): Leon Thomas III
Ethan (fellow senior and Eva’s boyfriend): Yeo Jin-goo
As for Dahlia, I still
haven’t found the right person. Plus, seeing a specific face/body might affect
the reader’s experience (like book covers do), and I’d hate for that to happen.
So I say, make her whoever you want her to be! :)
