I could not wait to read Mal and Christina’s story. I was
thoroughly intrigued by what had happened to them over the centuries when
certain details were revealed in Caress
of Darkness, and when it came to light that Christina had surfaced again I
was interested to see what would happen when they met again.
Their first meeting was passionate and exhilarating, and it
changed everything. Even though Christina/Jaynie had no knowledge of what was
going on, and when anything strange happened she chalked it off to the fear of
inheriting her mother’s insanity, it made this story even more exciting. It was
a cat and mouse game of love and lust, and a fight for Christina’s life. With
the brotherhood on Mal’s case about doing what was expected of him, the threat
of the furies, and his all-consuming need to be with, and protect Christina,
his anguish broke my heart.
Although this was a novella, it was packed with emotion. I
cannot wait to continue on this journey to see if Mal has the strength to save
Christina, whether it be repeating the past, or changing it for good.
